Human Trafficking Awareness

About This Course:

The purpose of this course is to empower everyday citizens to help reduce human trafficking.  This course will include discussions on global human trafficking with a focus on the occurrence within the United States.  Students will become familiar with the types and extent of trafficking including a look into the characteristics of victims (both adult and children).  Students will also gain tools to help prevent their family members from becoming victims, and to ways to identify and report potential victims.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Commercial Sexual Exploitation
  • Exploitation of Children
  • Labor Trafficking
  • Identifying Potential Victims
  • Reporting Procedures
  • Maintaining Safety for Children and Teens

Prerequisites:

None

Equipment Required:

Pen and Paper for notes. 

You will need a computer, tablet, or phone and access to high-speed wireless.  WiFi is recommended to avoid going over your data limits.

Notes:

This course is open to ages 16+ with a parent in attendance.  This course will cover topics of a sensitive and potentially disturbing nature.

This course is aimed toward those in the general public, although first responders, healthcare workers, and education providers will also benefit.
