About This Course:

Hunting is a time honored traditional way of putting food on your table. It can provide healthy meals for yourself and your family. Unfortunately, not everyone had the privilege of having a mentor to show them the proper methods.

This course is designed for those who want to learn how to safely, legally, and ethically hunt for deer with a firearm. The course will help students understand what they need to purchase, what they need to do in advance, what to expect the day of the hunt, and what to do should they actually successfully harvest an animal.

We will also work with students who complete the course to buddy up with an experienced hunter during hunting season to hopefully be successful in their first harvest.

Topics Covered:

  • Legal aspects
  • Steps of preparation for the hunt
  • Animal behavior, the environment, etc.
  • Appropriate clothing
  • Appropriate firearms
  • Appropriate blinds, stands, and other equipment
  • What to do with the animal once the hunt is successful

Equipment Required:

Pen and Paper

Prerequisites:

Students must complete a Department of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Education Course prior to attending. The course is available online for all 50 states for $20. Please complete the one applicable to your state of residence. https://www.hunter-ed.com/
