About This Class:

Birthing is a natural process, but is often fraught with concern for both the mother and baby. While modern medicine and emergency services have come a long way, deliveries still happen outside of the hospital. It could be planned, or it could be the result of an automobile accident, a natural disaster, or simply because the delivery is progressing much quicker than anticipated. Knowing what to do in these situations is vital.

This course will cover many of the aspects required to have a successful out of hospital delivery. It is vital information for anyone serious about their medical training, those who may respond to disaster areas, those who consider themselves properly prepared for a collapse of services, or those who simply have a desire to get the most medical training possible.

Topics Include:

- Female anatomy before, during and after pregnancy

- Physiological birth (how baby moves down birth canal)

- Supplies to have on hand during birth

- What is and is not an emergency during birth

- Non-pharmaceutical pain management

- Managing birth emergencies without medical professionals

- Recovery needs

- Lactation anatomy, mechanics and common issues
