About This Course:

Tracking with a K9 in an urban environment creates complex problems for the dog, handler, and support personnel.  Changes from hard surfaces to grass to loose surfaces is common.  Traffic can create additional changes in scent flow.  The incident of other human scent contamination crossing the track is highly common.  Obstacles that have to be worked over and around are constant.

Urban areas are prevalent even for teams which typically patrol more rural areas.  Housing developments, roads, driveways, parks, small towns all demand the skills a solid urban tracking team possess.  Unfortunately many teams only practice in grassy parks, wooded areas, or along roads with very little traffic.

This course will build a strong understanding of urban scent tracking, and will train the team for solid skills to be successful in even the most challenging of urban environments.

This course is applicable to both Law Enforcement and Search & Rescue teams
